1–3 :
The joy of the return to Jerusalem (Zion) from exile, the LORD'S redemptive act witnessed by the nations (Ps 96.10 ), who acknowledge God as Israel's savior ( 117.1–2 ).
4–6 :
Petition for abundant winter rains, even in the relatively arid Negeb in the south, and a good harvest after the return to the land (Ps 67.6 ), also used here as a metaphor for national restoration.
