1And while I was talking 1 Lit. ‘reflecting’. in this way to my father Tera in the 2courtyard of my house, the voice of the Mighty One fell from heaven in a deluge of fire, saying and calling out, Abraham, Abraham! 3,4And I said, Here am I. And the voice said, You are seeking God, 2 RJK ‘the God of gods’. the Creator, by the understanding of your mind: I am he. 5Leave your father, Tera, and leave his house, so that you do not perish also in the sins of your father's house. 6And I went out. 7And when I had gone out, before I could reach the outer door of the court, a thunderbolt dropped from the sky, 3 Lit. ‘a voice of thunder came’: K adds ‘and fire fell from heaven’. and it burned him and his house and all that was in his house to the ground, all forty cubits of it. 4 Here R ends.
