1And from there I went to the middle of the earth and saw a blessed, well-watered, 1 well-watered: Gk.a om.; Q om. ‘a blessed, well-watered, place’. place 2 Gk.a adds ‘where there were trees’. which had branches which remained alive and sprouted from a tree which had been cut down. 2And there I saw a holy mountain, and under the mountain, to the east of it, there was water and it flowed towards the south. 3And I saw towards the east another mountain which was of the same height, 3 Q Gk.a ‘which was higher than this’; D′ is corrupt, but supports Q Gk.a. and between them there was a deep and narrow valley; and in it a stream ran by 4 Gk.a ‘under’. the mountain. 4And to the west of this one was another mountain which was lower than it, and not high; and under it there was a valley between them, and there were other deep and dry valleys 5 and under … dry valleys: Gk.a ‘and there was a deep and dry valley between them, and another deep and dry valley’; GMQUD′ partially support the reading ‘and another deep and dry valley’. at the end of the three mountains. 6 mountains: so Gk.a; Eth. om. 5And all the valleys were deep and narrow, 7 and narrow: Gk.a om. of hard rock, and trees were 8 Gk.a ‘were not’. planted on them. 6And I was amazed at the rock and I was amazed 9 at the rock and I was amazed: Gk.a om. at the valley; I was very much amazed.
