1Contemplate 1 So GU: Q ‘I contemplated and saw’; all other Eth. MSS ‘I contemplated’. how the trees are covered with green leaves, 2 Gk.a ‘how the green leaves on them cover the trees’. and bear fruit. 3 Gk.a ‘and all their fruit is for honour and glory’, and so probably Aram. And understand in respect of everything and perceive 4 Gk.a ‘Understand and know in respect of all his works and perceive’. how he who lives for ever made all these things for you; 5 GMQT1U ‘how you made all these things who live for ever’; D′ corrupt; Gk.a ‘how the living God made these things so, and he lives for all eternity’. 2and how his works are before him in each succeeding year, 6 Gk.a ‘and how his works, all the things which he has made for ever, all are thus brought into being from year to year’. and all his works serve him and do not change, 7 and all … change: Gk.a ‘and all the tasks which they complete for him, and their tasks do not change’. but as God has decreed, 8 Gk.a ‘but in accordance with the decree’. so everything is done. 3And consider how the seas and rivers together 9 Gk.a ‘likewise’. complete 10 Gk.a adds ‘and do not change’. their tasks. 11 Gk.a adds ‘from his words’. 4But you have not persevered, nor observed the law of the Lord. 12 Gk.a ‘his commandments’. And all the sinless (?) will rejoice, and there will be for them forgiveness of sins and all mercy and peace and graciousness, there will be for them salvation, a good light, and they will inherit the earth. And for all you sinners there will be no salvation, but upon you all will rest a curse’. 7For the chosen there will be light and joy 21 Gk.a ‘grace’. and peace, and they will inherit the earth. But for you, the impious, there will be a curse. 8When 22 Some Eth. Then there will be given to all the chosen wisdom, and’. they will all live, and will not again do wrong, either through forgetfulness, or through pride. 9But those who possess wisdom will be humble. 24 Gk.a ‘But there will be to the enlightened man light, and to the wise man perception’. They will not again do wrong, and they will not be judged 25 Gk.a ‘and they will not sin’. all the days of their life, and they will not die of the divine wrath or anger. But they will complete the number of the days of their life, and their life will grow in peace, and the years of their joy will increase in gladness and in eternal peace all the days of their life.
