A psalm: for David

1 ASCRIBE to the LORD, you angelic powers, ascribe to the LORD glory and might. 2Ascribe to the LORD the glory due to his name; in holy attire worship the LORD.

3The voice of the LORD echoes over the waters; the God of glory thunders; the LORD thunders over the mighty waters, 4the voice of the LORD in power, the voice of the LORD in majesty. 5The voice of the LORD breaks the cedar trees, the LORD shatters the cedars of Lebanon. 6He makes Lebanon skip like a calf, Sirion like a young wild ox.

7The voice of the LORD makes flames of fire burst forth; 8the voice of the LORD makes the wilderness writhe in travail, the LORD makes the wilderness of Kadesh writhe. 9The voice of the LORD makes the hinds calve; he strips the forest bare a 29:9 strips…bare: or brings young goats early to birth. , and in his temple all cry, ‘Glory!’ 10The LORD is king above the flood, the LORD has taken his royal seat as king for ever.

11The LORD will give strength to his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.

Notes:

a 29:9 strips…bare: or brings young goats early to birth.
